PJ Huggins Named Awardee of 2nd Annual Sol Englander Scholarship

Columbus, Ohio – PJ Huggins has been named the recipient of the 2nd Annual Sol Englander Innovation in School Transportation Safety Scholarship, sponsored by Rosco, Inc. The scholarship was created in memory of Rosco’s founder, Sol Englander, who passed away in February of 2017. The scholarship helps fund the further education of a National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) member who has used innovation for a practical solution in school bus transportation safety. The inaugural award was presented to Rick Grisham, Executive Director of Transportation in the Cobb County School District, last year at the 2018 NAPT Conference.

Ms. Huggins, the facilitator at the Hall County School District in Gainesville, Georgia, spearheaded the creation of a collision review committee within the school transportation system. The weekly committee works one on one with drivers to bring focus back to safety on the road. If an incident occurs, drivers are retrained to make safety a priority and to never rush or be in a hurry. The goal of the committee is to reduce the number of incidents while transporting students throughout the year.

The scholarship and award were presented to Ms. Huggins during the NAPT General Session held on Monday, Nov. 2, 2019, by Ben Englander, CEO of Rosco, Inc. and Dave McDonald, VP of Business Development and Specifications Compliance.
